The Cobalt Bomb Unit at North Ormesby Hospital, opened by Princess Margaret on 10 April 1962, had been manufactured by T. E. M. Sales Limted. In her speech, Princess Margaret revealed that the unit, which had been designed for the treatment of cancer and other diseases, cost £27,000 and was paid for in part by a legacy of £4,000 left by Mr. J.H. Lincoln, a crane driver, of Green Lane, Middlesex, who had died aged 80 the previous December.
