Decorated in the Chinoiserie taste, containing a collection of various Cantonese mother-of-pearl gaming counters, three emblazoned with the Royal Cypher of Queen Charlotte, with a later paper property label for Princess Margaret

Lot Essay

The box, decorated with a Chinese landscape vignette in India-fashion penwork, relates to one wreathed in the same 'chintz' flowered pattern illustrated in A. Clarke & J. O'Kelly, Antique Boxes, 2003, fig. 118.
