A TORTOISESHELL-MOUNTED SINGING BIRD-BOX
RETAILED BY FINNIGANS, LATE 19TH CENTURY
Oblong, the top with a hinged cover within a brass frame, engraved with foliage and opening to reveal the bird within a pierced gallery, the back of the box hinged and with a compartment for the key, the back with the remains of an inscription, engraved Finnigans Bond St.W., contained in a fitted case with a second key, labelled indistinctly for Finnigan & Co.
3 7/8 in. (10 cm.) wide
The inscription reads 'To .... Dorothy From Cecil'
