The wardrobe, with richly figured mahogany tablets framed in hollow-cornered reeded borders, and Grecian-scrolled chest embellished with flowered 'patera' handles, corresponds to patterns in Messrs A. Hepplewhite & Co.'s, Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, 1788 and adopted in particular by the Gillow firm of London and Lancaster.
