Lot Essay

In the Vogue article, Stamp is quoted, 'I came in out of the rain to do Bailey for a coffee and he collared me to do some pictures. I didn't get paid, but I got a coffee.' (p.114) A year later Shrimpton split from Bailey and she and Stamp became lovers. (Shrimpton, An Autobiography, Ebury Press, 1990, chapter 5)
