RUSSIAN, EARLY 19TH CENTURY
The Crucifix is placed on the rocky summit of Golgotha, with the skull of Adam at the bottom and Jerusalem in the background. It is flanked by saints headed by the Virgin and John. The corners of the icon are occupied by the Tikhvinskaya and Saint Haralambi. An angel and Saint Victor appear in the borders. The painting is done with care, the colours are deep and highlighted with gold.
