of pressed bisque, the closed mouth with white indicating teeth between the lips, applied ears, fixed bleu yeux fibres, pale brows, shaded lids, chin dimple, blonde wig and fixed wrist jointed body wearing whitework frock and underclothes, circa 1880 --34½in. (88cm.) high, impressed 16 and stamped in blue on the body Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (distortion to head rim while drying, ripple of bisque on nose)

This doll was formerly from Dolls in Wonderland, a doll museum owned by Vera Kramer in Brighton. She was subsequently sold to a collector who flew back from London to New Zealand with the doll's head on her lap. She has been in New Zealand for the past twenty-seven years and is now back in London to find a new home.
