A fine English turned and carved painted wooden doll
with clearly defined rounded chin, ears, lips, philtrum and breasts, with inset large dark glass eyes, feathered brows and painted lashes, the long body with tiny waist, unusually carved bottom, flat jointed legs with calves, the arms with open palms, original clothing consisting of boned corset with later modesty attachment, green leather high heeled shoes with white silk rosettes, a shift and a pair of pockets, 1780s --23in. (59cm.) high (feet repaired, lips overpainted, nose rubbed and two fingers damaged)

Inherited from Lena Alexander born in the 1890s to a well known Jewish mercantile Manchester family.
