Lot Essay

The present lot was drawn from the King Charles window in Dr Costin's rooms in St John's College, Oxford. Dr Costin is depicted in the work, as is the artist's son, Gavin. The present lot was presented to Dr Costin in May 1942 by Sir Muirhead and Lady Bone in memory of their son.
