Yeats wrote in 1904 "Florida water is always brought home by Irish sailors who have been in the States. This shows the girl's sweetheart is a sailor" (see H. Pyle, Jack B. Yeats His Watercolours, Drawings and Pastels, Dublin, 1993, p. 127).
