Harrild [and 3 others], Derby: Mozley, [1816?]. 12mo., folding engraved frontispiece. two wood-engraved tailpieces (frontispiece a little waterstained and browned, slight tears along fold lines, title lightly browned, some marginal soiling and occasional spotting), contemporary grey boards backed in green roan (covers stained and rubbed at corners, spine restored). Provenance: Frederick Johnston (inscription at front dated March 18, 1818) -- J. Johnston (inscription at rear dated June 14, 1819) -- H.A. Cohen (sold Phillips, London, The Hal Cohen Collection, 26 January 1995, lot 427).

Second edition of the first instructional book to follow Boxall, thought to have been published in the same year as the first. The frontispiece, with a key to positions in the field, represents a game at Lewes. This copy on paper watermarked 1810-11. Allen 17; Padwick 383.
