Sheffield: Leader and Sons [later Groves and Son], 1883-86. 5 vols., including duplicate of 1883, 16mo., 1886 with cricket vignette on title (occasional browning at beginning and end), original printed boards in contrasting colours, all but the first issue with the same vignette (soiled, spines worn), modern purple cloth box. Provenance: Alfred D. Taylor (inscription in 1883) -- E.D.R. Eagar (bookplate in 1883 and 1884).
ALL PUBLISHED UNDER THIS TITLE. Whittam's name was dropped after two issues. At this point the publisher also changed from Leader to Groves, Groves himself remaining editor throughout. However, Whittam made a come back in 1886, when the annual was continued as Cricket! W. Whittam's List of Matches, lasting until 1898. Padwick 1129.
