Provenance: H.R. Johnson, Willesden (ownership inscription on front wrapper dated 1902) -- J.W. Goldman (bookplate) -- R.N. Jones (signature on free endpaper).
GOLDMAN COPY. Whereas John Heywood was a bona fide publisher of a wide range of books, including tourist guides and standard literary works, Bryan was primarily a manufacturer of sporting equipment. The post 1894 edition of Heywood's Guide carried advertisements on behalf of both. This edition of "Bryan's" Guide is word for word the same, only with an altered title page and advertisements exclusive to Bryan's sports business. Padwick 376.
