Small 4to., 8 leaves [?]only, each engraved on one side of the leaf with 14 hand-coloured scenes of sports only (some staining in upper inner corners), original printed limp boards (rebacked, becoming detached). Provenance: "Susan Stedman Harrall New Year Gift from her Uncle John 1829" (inscription on blank recto of first leaf).
A CHARMING EARLY REPRESENTATION OF CRICKET FOR THE UNITED STATES PUBLIC. The cover, carrying the full title, calls for "twenty-eight neat copper-plate engravings" in part I. Of those engravings present in this copy, three are under the heading "Spring", including the scenes of "Catch Ball" and "Cricket" on one page; while eleven are under the heading "Summer". RARE. Not in Osborne or Padwick.
