J.C. BRODIE
The Victorian Cricketers' Guide

Melbourne: Sands, Kenny and Co., 1861. 8vo., 3 advertisement leaves + [iv] + 112p. (pp. 5-8 with lower corners torn away), grey buckram, blue speckled edges, original wrappers bound in (adhesion marks at inner margins of wrappers).

Third year of issue, now under a new editor. The short title on the cover explains that the Guide is "for 1860-61" but otherwise follows the wording on the title page. Under Brodie's editorship, it took much the same form as the two earlier issues, although the instructional part is omitted. With the visit of the England team imminent, articles are included on the "All England Eleven and the Melbourne Cricket Club", "The All England Eleven" and "The Cricketers of England" (pp. 87-103). A fourth volume of the annual was published in 1862, thereafter it was continued as Cricketer's Register for Australasia. VERY RARE. NO COPY AT LORD'S. Bowen located only one copy in the Victoria State Library. Padwick 3377.
