DESCRIBES THE FIRST VISIT BY AN ENGLISH TEAM TO THE WEST INDIES, under R. Slade Lucas's captaincy in 1895. Lucas (64) and R.P. Sewell (51) made the first first-wicket century partnership in the West Indies of 105 v. Barbados at Kensington. H.R. Bromley-Davenport took a hat trick for the first time in West Indian first-class cricket v. Guyana at Bourda. In the second match v. Barbados, Barbados scored 517 runs, the first time over 500 had been made in a West Indian match. Padwick 4673.
