Okement was built for Westoll & Co. by William Pickersgill & Sons at Sunderland in 1915. Registered at 4,349 tons gross, she measured 365 feet in length with a 51 foot beam and was intended for general cargo or coal. After less than two years in service, she was torpedoed and sunk by U-64 south-east of Malta on 17th February 1917 when on passage from Barry with a mixed cargo, mostly coal; her captain and ten crew lost their lives.
