A rare Swatow blue and white 'Islamic-market' charger
Late 16th/17th Century
The central roundel painted with two dragons writhing around a flaming pearl, surrounded by fan-shaped panels enclosing horses galloping through fire scrolls, the sides with alternate medallions of dancing figures and Islamic inscriptions (God is health, God is healing) on a washed-blue wave-pattern ground, rim cracks
38.4 cm. diam.
