A similar bowl is illustrated in B. Harrison, Keramiek uit Azië, Museum Het Princessehof, Leeuwarden, 1985, p.74, fig.74. This pattern is known from paintings by J. Linard dated 1621 en 1638; and also from the wreck of the Sao Gonzalo, which sank in 1630 near Cape Hope.
