Lot Essay

In 1912, Franz Marc and Wassily Kandinsky produced Der Blau Reiter Almanac, which was named for the constantly recurring theme of the Knight in the medieval subject matter with which Kandinsky was engaged. Marc, likewise, has chosen a mythical creature as his subject. Fabeltier was included in the deluxe edition of the album.
