Château Latour--Vintage 1964
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Swiss import labels. Very bin-soiled labels. Levels: three base of neck, five top, two upper, one mid/upper and one mid/low-shoulder
Tasting Note: Vying with Château Pétrus as the finest '64 . Its nose and taste opened up, demonstrating its flesh and rich character through the 1980s. If anything goes to show what an immense difference bottle age can do to a top claret, the continuing evolution of the '64 Latour is the perfect example. It goes on and on gaining extra dimensions...…marvellous mouthful, plump, perfectly balanced, rounded and sweet yet still with a tannic finish. A bouquet of cedar and old oak. Fully mature, lovely flavour. Oct 2000 M.B.
