Tasting Note: The last of the Grand Cru to be picked. Yield 22.6hl/ha, 1387 dozen bottles, well below average. In the long-poured open glass: glorious fruit, floral nose and, when freshly poured, an impatient aromatic upsurge. Spectacular and indescribable. On the palate a marvellous ripe softness, yet very spicy, with excellent tannin and acidity. Great length. A lovely wine. Surely one of the greatest ever La Tâche. Feb 2002 (*****) probably best from 2012 and unquestionably 40-plus years of brilliant life. M.B.
