A GERMAN MILITARY WHEEL-LOCK HOLSTER PISTOL
circa 1640-50
With octagonal barrel changing to round at the median and struck with the letter 'P' beneath a miniscule stamp, perhaps that of Suhl, bevelled lock retained by a pair of side-nails, fitted with sliding pan-cover and the arm of the dog also struck with a miniscule mark, perhaps the Stockholm city mark (Neue Støckel 8798), pearwood full stock (small repair beneath the lock), 'fishtail' butt with plain domed iron cap, plain iron trigger-guard, ramrod-pipe and fore-end cap and iron-tipped wooden ramrod.
