A RARE D.B. SIDE-BY-SIDE SINGLE-TRIGGER WHEEL-LOCK HOLSTER PISTOL, DUTCH OR GERMAN
circa 1640-50
With tapering octagonal barrels each struck with a shield-shaped mark, a double-eagle displayed, another mark 'IS', a mullet above (Neue Støckel 6145), retained by a separate breech tang and with no provision for a central rib, plain flat locks, external wheels retained by a small moulded bracket, one stamped 'S' (for 'Gespannen'), sliding pan-covers and the left-hand lock fitted with safety-catch, fruitwood full stock (the fore-end replaced towards the muzzles), lemon-shaped pommel, iron trigger-guard and ramrod-pipe, and iron-capped wooden ramrod.
