A LONG WHEEL-LOCK HOLSTER PISTOL OF THE TRABANTENLEIB-GARDE OF CHRISTIAN II, PRINCE ELECTOR OF SAXONY, BY HANS STOCKMANN, DRESDEN

With two-stage barrel struck with bands of decorative small marks at the median girdle and at two points on the breech, the latter terminating in a flared moulding and also stamped with the maker's initials 'HS' (Neue Støckel 3099), flat lock, domed wheel-cover retained by an iron ring, sliding pan-cover with button release and the dog struck with groups of decorative marks en suite with the barrel, fruitwood full stock inlaid with engraved staghorn plaques, including a series of differing rosettes and arrangements of fruit and set within horn segmental lines at the rear, fluted pear-shaped pommel, iron trigger-guard, and the ramrod-pipes and fore-end cap each of engraved staghorn (ramrod replaced).
