A PAIR OF GERMAN FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOLS BY J. CHRISTOPHE KUCHENREUTER
circa 1790
With tapering barrels signed in silver letters on the sighting flat, silver fore-sights, the breeches with gilt-lined maker's stamp of Johann Andreas Kuchenreuter (Neue Støckel 635), all within enclosures of silver scrollwork and cut with polygroove-rifled bores, engraved tangs incorporating the back-sight with two additional leaves, plain slightly rounded locks with roller, carved figured walnut full stocks, 'fishtail' butts with chequered grip and carved with a bouquet behind barrel tang, full brass mounts cast in low relief and engraved with rococo ornament, horn fore-end caps, and wooden ramrods, probably the original.
