AN UNUSUAL PAIR OF FLINTLOCK BOX-LOCK SIDE-ACTION COAT PISTOLS WITH FOLDING BARREL-LEVERS, BY HEWSON, LONDON
circa 1815-20
With turn-off barrels engraved at the breech and muzzle, fitted with folding barrel-lever beneath and with spring-bayonet released by a sliding catch on the left-hand side of the action, the breeches signed on the left, engraved actions each with large roller and 'French' cock (top jaws and jaw screws replaced), flat-sided walnut butts chequered over the spine, and engraved trigger-guards, London proof marks (light pitting).
