A PAIR OF SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK BOX-LOCK POCKET PISTOLS BY E&W BOND, 45 CORNHILL, LONDON circa 1826-30
With turn-off barrels each engraved with a broad band of foliage at the muzzle, rounded brass actions signed below the pans and engraved with panels of foliage on each side, one side involving a serpent, engraved thumbpiece safety-catches also locking the steels (the latter each perhaps an early working replacement), folding triggers, rounded walnut butts profusely inlaid in silver with finely engraved leaves and flowerheads arranged in tendril spirals over the sides and in sprays over the top and bottom, engraved silver butt-caps, and vacant silver escutcheons, London proof marks: in a lined and fitted mahogany case with three accessories including barrel-key.
