A LIÈGEOIS CASED PAIR OF FLINTLOCK POCKET PISTOLS BY GUILLAUME BERLEUR

In the First Empire taste, with short turn-off barrels, engraved box-lock actions signed within pairs of ovals suspended beneath swagged drapery, engraved concealed folding triggers, thumbpiece safety-catches also locking the steels, figured walnut butts carved in low relief with palmettes behind the actions, lunette mouldings over the length of the spine, and the sides cut with chequered panels studded with minute nails, Liège proof (steel parts polished bright, the butts each with small crack): in original fitted leather-covered case, lined in green velvet (the lid with small tear), retaining its original combination bullet mould and two flasks each of turned ebony.
