A PAIR OF FRENCH REGULATION FLINTLOCK PISTOLS D'OFFICIER DE MARÉCHAUSSÉE, MODEL 1770

Constructed as a pair, each with 5 1/8in barrel engraved and gilt with the Royal arms of France on the breech and retained by a slotted iron band at the muzzle, engraved barrel tang dated 1770, border-engraved flat lock inscribed 'Manufacture de Charleville', walnut stock stamped 'Avril 1771', border engraved iron mounts, the butt-cap and trigger-guard each cut with simple rocailles motifs, and original iron ramrod.
