No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VA… 顯示更多 Shiy de Jinn (1923-81) Born in Szechuan Province, South-West China, Shiy de Jinn studied European-style painting before moving to Taiwan to become a teacher. He is best known for his drawings and watercolours and he exhibited and held one man shows in the US and across Europe. He was a personal friend of Mr Franklin while he was based in Taiwan and Mr Franklin encouraged Shiy de Jinn to turn his design skills to ceramics. The following lots are rare examples of his work in this medium.

The vase of tapering form, painted with figures and animals inspired by cave-paintings on blue washed ground, 'Yong Sheng; Xi Hua' mark ("live forever" and "Shiy painted"); and a beaker with straight steep sides, painted with ostrich amongst trees -- maximum 13¼ in. (33.3 cm.) high. (2)
