NOBUYOSHI ARAKI
Zerokkusu Shashincho 12 -- Late Summer Visit: Kitchen Ramen 2. Tokyo: Nobuyoshi Araki, 1970. Oblong 2° (365 x 255mm). 19 black and white photocopies. (Shallow creases, light wear to first and last leaf.) Original black paper wrappers, stitched with red thread (light wear, one corner with shallow crease).
RARE. 1 OF 70 COPIES ONLY, THE ENTIRE EDITION, HANDMADE BY ARAKI using the office photocopier at the advertising agency that employed him, and fired him as a result. One of a series of 25 similar projects, 'anything but modest in terms of ambition', in which Araki took his dictum that 'Photogaphy is copying' to its natural conclusion (Parr & Badger). Araki distributed these to friends and colleagues, and individuals selected randomly from the telephone directory. The Open Book, pp.254-57 (reproducing one image from this number); The Photobook, p.294 ('FRAGILE AND NOW EXTREMELY VALUABLE').
