FIRST EDITION. 'ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL PHOTOBOOKS', and that which introduced the enduring concept of 'the decisive moment' (The Photobook). 'Cartier-Bresson's precise organization of forms has come to be the standard against which that of all other photographers is measured, and this book is its proper expression' (101 Books). The book was an immediate success, and inspired countless artists and photographers, including Robert Frank who put together his own photographs in a book called Black and White Things soon thereafter.
