FIRST EDITION, PREFIGURES THE WORK OF SHORE AND EGGLESTON BY TWO DECADES. Helmer-Petersen later taught night classes at the Chicago Institute of Design, counting among his colleagues Siskind, Callahan, and Ishimoto. 'A singular, remarkably early and largely successful attempt to make colour photography work' (The Photobook, pp.202-03).
