Amsterdam tijdens den hongerwinter -- Amsterdam during the 'Hungerwinter'. Amsterdam: Contact and De Bezige Bij, 1947. 4° (280 x 225mm). 100 black and white photographs. (Light soiling on first few leaves.) Original black quarter cloth, spine and front cover gilt-lettered, original photo-illustrated dust-jacket (dust-jacket rear panel soiled, spine-ends and front panel chipped, spine and a few short tears repaired from verso). Provenance: inscription by Andriesse, Oorthuys, and another on front free endpaper; two credits corrected in manuscript, possibly by one of the photographers.
FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY CAS OORTHUYS AND EMMY ANDRIESSE. 'A LANDMARK PUBLICATION by a group of photographers who would exert a great influence on Dutch photography and the Dutch photobook' (The Photobook). Published just two years after the liberation of Holland with the dust-jacket reusing paper stock printed on the verso. The Photobook, p.196.
