Lot Essay

Although the present sugar-bowl does not bear a date letter, it can be precisely dated to 1758-1759, the only years in which this combination of ground colours was produced. See Rosalind Savill, The Wallace Collection: Catalogue of Sèvres Porcelain, vol. II, pp. 615-621, no. C401-6 for a Déjeuner 'Courteille' also decorated with a combination of bleu lapis Taillandier and green.
