Lot Essay

Canon August Otto Ernst von dem Busch of Hildesheim (1704-1779), was an independent decorator working on Meissen porcelain. His work is characterised by etching designs with a diamond point and then filling the incisions with lampblack or charcoal. He had a single pupil, J.G. Kratzberg, also a Canon of Hildesheim, who also worked in this style.
