A MEISSEN YELLOW-GROUND PURPURMALEREI TEA CADDY AND A SILVER COVER
Circa 1740, faint blue crossed swords mark, the silver cover a later replacement
Rectangular, painted with a perforce hunt on one side, figures by fantasy ruins on the banks of a river on the other, each reserved within shaped panels on the yellow ground further reserved and painted in purple with trailing indianische Blumen, the sides similarly painted with a figure seated against a log outside a market town and with a barn burning, flames shooting from the windows and door, each similarly reserved, a flower spray at each corner, the shoulder painted in purple on white with sprays of indianische Blumen, the replacement silver cover enameled in purple with a similar blossom
