A BERLIN (K.P.M.) IRON-RED, 'LAPIS-LAZULI' AND GOLD-GROUND CABINET CUP AND SAUCER
Circa 1815, blue sceptre marks and - to each, various incised marks
The cup with a 'lapis-lazuli' interior and with two gilt dots corresponding to the 'rivet' marks on the gilt handle, the exterior with two harps centering a brazier in imitation of pietra dura on the iron-red ground, the matte gilt rim with raised and polished stylized palm fronds, the saucer with concentric bands of similar gilt decoration and lapis centering a wide iron-red border gilt with a band of stylized plants issuing ivy vines
