AN 18K GOLD VANITY CASE, BY CARTIER
A RARE COLLECTION OF LIGHT-HEARTED FRENCH SIGNED JEWELLERY Lots 294 to 313 form the second part of a collection which has been assembled mainly during the 1970s and 1980s by a collector with a discerning eye for quality in terms of workmanship as well as style. It is a rare opportunity to find as many jewels representative of the time and from the most famous French jewellers together. The splendid pair of 'Chimaera' bangles by Cartier are undoubtedly the highlight, although four jewels by Boivin (lots 377, 379, 380 and 383) are also of great interest. The whimsical touch displayed by almost all pieces shows that not only was the collection built upon quality but also with a subtle sense of humour. For the first part of the collection please refer to lots 174 to 197 and to lots 377, 379, 380 and 383 for jewels signed by Boivin. THE PROPERTY OF A PRIVATE COLLECTOR
