Lot Essay

According to our records, this is the only intense blue green diamond over two carats to be offered at auction in the past 18 years. The most common coloured diamonds are usually brown, yellow, orange, grey, pink or a combination of these colours. To find a green or a blue diamond is already much rarer but it is almost impossible to find a diamond with a perfect balance of blue and green colours, such as this 2.25 carats diamond offered in this sale. This diamond would be the highlight of any major fancy coloured diamond collection.

A fancy vivid greenish blue diamond weighing 1.62 carats was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 1 June 2005, lot 2561 for US$ 357,760 (US$ 219,735 per carat)
