No. 1107, with paper aperture at the top, metal sides and moulded metal base, glazed back, front and sloped top all in bevelled glass, centre bar engraved Wright et Nigron - inventures, Cie. Gle. D'Electricite Atelier Voltaire Cr., Agence Havas 13, Place de la Bourse and a later repeated label on the base, visible mechanism with twin coil movement bars, typing reel on vertical prop-shaft and electrical connections on underside -16in. (40.5cm) high

Lot Essay

Connected to the telephone line and a power source, these early machines were installed in press offices where information would be sent in a hurry. Most of these machines were used to transmit sports results.
