With a particular enthusiasm for works on paper, he focused his collecting on artists of the Stieglitz circle, scouring New York for rare finds amongst leading collectors such as Dorothy Miller and dealers such as Edith Halpert. During a lifetime of passionate collecting, Irving Brown assembled a selective collection reflecting his unique taste and commitment to American Modernism.
