The statue of Wellington depicted in the background of this painting, designed by Matthew Wyatt, was placed on top of the triumphal arch at Hyde Park Corner in 1846, remaining there until 1883, when the arch was moved. The statue is now located on Round Hill, near the Royal Garrison Church.
