Lot Essay

'Auld Robin Gray' is the title of a ballad by the Scottish poet Lady Anne Lindsay (1750-1825). It tells the story of Robin Gray, a good old man who marries a young girl whose lover is thought to have died in a shipwreck, only to return alive a month later.
