A black and white publicity photograph of The Beatles, 1962, sent as a postcard from George Harrison to concert promoter Bob Wooler, 26th April, 1962, the photograph inscribed on the verso in blue ink Dear Bob, Nems have our address, from George and to one side as a picture caption THE BEATLES [another group], addressed in Harrison's hand WOOLLER [sic] c/o CAVERN CLUB, 10A MATHEW [sic] ST. OFF NORTH-JOHN ST. LIVERPOOL ENGLAND, frankmarked HAMBURG 26 4 62, the Beatles faces on the front enhanced by George with doodled beards, stubble and hair [doodles faded] -- 4x6in. (10.2x15.2cm.)

Lot Essay

It was Bob Wooler, along with Mona Best, who first promoted The Beatles. Wooler, the resident dance compere at the Cavern Club, secured them their first engagement at the Cavern on Tuesday, 9th February, 1961.
