Lot Essay

According to the vendor, these signatures were acquired when The Beatles appeared at Cafe Treslong in Hillegom, The Netherlands on Friday, 5th June.

Jimmy Nicol was hastily drafted in by Brian Epstein on 3rd June, 1964 when Ringo Starr was hospitalized with tonsillitis. The next day the Beatles, with their temporary drummer, flew to Copenhagen for the start of a hectic two-week tour ending in Australia. By 15th June Ringo had recovered, and joined the others in Melbourne; Jimmy Nicol returned home.
