Lot Essay

The Maharajah Ganga Singh (1880-1943) succeeded his father in 1887 at a similar age to the young Princess at the time of the coronation of her father, H.M. King George VI, on 12 May 1937.

For a shaped combined clock and frame of similar but more elaborate style, by the 3rd Artel, see G. von Habsburg, Fabergé, London, 1988, no.612, containing a photograph of Queen Eleonora of Bulgaria, born Princess Reuss-Köstritz (second wife of King Ferdinand of Bulgaria).

More from Jewellery and Faberge, from the Collection of H.R.H The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon
