Eloise Harriet Stannard was of the Stannard family of Norwich School painters; her father was Alfred Stannard (1806-1889), a landscape and marine painter, and her uncle was Joseph Stannard (1797-1830), also a painter and print maker. Eloise continued the family's artistic line, specialising in still lives of flowers and fruit, regularly exhibiting works at the Royal Academy between 1856-1893. She was also a member of the Society of Lady Artists.
