by Charles Alexandre Bouillerot (fl. 1769-1792), marked, Paris, 1780/1781, with the first charge and discharge marks of Henry Clavel 1780-1782, later struck with inventory number 162 and the post-1838 warranty mark for the French departments
Oval box, the cover, four side panels and base engine-turned with horizontal reeding stamped with scattered pellets, the lid centred with an oval reserve within raised beaded border chased in three-colour gold with trophies of love, music and gardening, against a landscape background on a frosted ground, the four side dividers chased in three-colour gold with laurel leaves and x-shaped scrolls, the matted gold rims with raised bead border alternating with trailing foliage
